Few days ago I went to a science meeting. The meeting started with the head of the group (a professor) wanting to show and talk about his group’s website. He launched Internet explorer, windows live was the homepage. He was looking for the department’s website so I thought he will just type the name of the department or somehing like that in the search box, well no! He typed “google”! Once he got the Google page, he typed the name of the university to access the univeristy’s home page, then looked for the department’s page then accessed the goup’s website!!!

That makes me wonder, most of the web users probably don’t even know or don’t think of using another search engine. Even if you put it in front their eyes with a big fat “search” written on it! This guy uses internet everyday for work, he’s probably more familiar with internet than most of the users and still it’s like he doesn’t know anything else than Google.

Not to mention that many people don’t use the search engine properly.
